Here’s an odd one for you: Mikhail Grigorenko had the Anaheim Ducks ask him to remove his shoes in the interview, as they wanted a good look at his feet.

Maybe they thought he had club feet like Houser?

Probably looking for needle marks between his toes.

Could you imagine getting close to someones family and then not drafting them? His patrents would think he's stupid. Hopefully they take him is CBJ takes Murray and NYI takes reinhart/trouba/reilly and we get to choose either gally or grigo

If that happens, do what it takes to grab the #6 pick as well, and get your future #1 and 2 down pat.

Grigorenko seems to be trying to make a big push to emphasize his Canadian committment vs Russian loyalties.

Suggests to me his camp is fearing some slippage in his likely draft position. Part of it is mono. But, could there be some doubts around his commitment of going to the NHL and his using the KHL as a wedge in future negotiations.

This kid has the look of a superstar in the making. It is a serious mistake should he be allowed to slide below five.

"You wash in between them there toes boy? We had a big time foot disease epidemic in the locker room years ago. We won't take the chance again."

"Don't you want to talk about hockey?"

"What the hell does it matter if everyone's got itchy feet boy!? You on the weed or something?"

These interviews seem really useful for evaluating the players.

I still can't believe they've asked some kids "Do you have a boyfriend?"

I guess its the only way they can ask these questions because the players don't belong to the unioin at this point and can't file a grievance.

May be also just to see their reaction. Kind of like when I ask a girl if she likes it up the .........

I'm sure Anaheim would give up the 6th pick. Talk would probably go like this.

Burke "Hey Bob, its Brian, whats happening?"
Murray "Not much, I'm just getting ready for the draft. What about you?"
Burke "I'm at the cottage on the muskoka's with a friend of mine. Just relaxing. Look, I got a question for you. Lets talk the number 6 pick. What would it take for the Leafs to snag that pick?"
Murray "Well, for starters, you can leave Shultz alone and let him stay with us."
Burke "K, one second. Hey Justin, I am agreeing to not sign you and you can sign in Anaheim. Is that okay with you?"
-pause-
Burke "He said yes, he's down at the beach on my seadoo."
Murray "Cool, then maybe toss in a 2nd next year and we have a deal."
Burke "Done."

It reminds me of the foreign workers we had a few years back, wearing those cheap Canada hats with the gay brim.

Union or no union you can't ask a potential employee in and interview if they are gay.

As for the last part, who asks? Unless it's something serious I guess.

Would be nice, but I would love to see schultz on our team after seeing that Defence and goaltending were our downfall last year besides Gardiner, and the fact that Schultz is supposedly better than Gardiner I think we absolutely need him.

Dion - Gunnar
Gardiner - Schultz
Schenn - Holtzer

I like it.

Whats your thoughts on Franson? Maybe its just me, but I really like that kid but it seems any time D is discussed in TO, he's never a part of it. To me, the best 3 guys on a regular basis are Gunner, who is to me the most consistent guy on the back end, Gardiner, and Franson. I know Huddle loves Dion but he's either on or off and when he's off, he's terrible. I like Schenn but he just seems like a kid who is scared to make a mistake. I get the feeling Carlyle will get that out of him though.

If Shultz comes as advertised, whoever gets him is getting a pretty good kid.

Very awkward... The only reason I could see is that they don't want to have a "homophobic" person in their team.

Only reason I can imagine.

If not, well... That's wrong

I have no qulams with Franson whatsoever. Up until this Schultz guy I was adamant he needs to stay as he has produced well and been a + player with the limited roll that's been given to him. I am just with the believe that 1 of our moderately good D men will be traded this summer and I don't think Schenn will be for 2 reasons, 1 he won't be considered moderately good after 2 bad seasons, and 2 I think Burke will be more Opt to keep him over Franson because of Carlyle's Defensive system.
